Preparing young athletes for international competition.
Different Countries.
One Language.
English.
Today's young athletes travel internationally, compete against players from different countries and communicate with coaches, referees, tournament organisers and fellow competitors from around the world.
English is the language that connects them.
At Language Society Oxford, we prepare young athletes for the international world of sport, helping them develop the communication skills, cultural understanding and confidence they need throughout their sporting careers.
Our Young Athletes Programme is led by José Oliveira, CFO and Head Tennis Coach from Portugal, now based in Oxford. With more than 20 years of coaching experience, José has developed his expertise in Portugal, Spain, the United States and the United Kingdom. He has guided players to the National Under-14 Finals at Wimbledon, including coaching a player to become the Under-14 National Champion, and continues to travel internationally with his players to TEN-PRO Global Junior Tour, Tennis Europe and ITF tournaments.
Having experienced international tennis first-hand, José understands that English is far more than a school subject. It is the language of international sport - essential for communicating confidently with coaches, referees, tournament organisers and fellow players around the world.
TEN-PRO Global Junior Tour
Language Society Oxford is proud to partner with TEN-PRO Global Junior Tour, one of the world's leading junior tennis tours.
Together, we are helping young athletes prepare for the realities of international competition by combining education, communication skills and sport.
Through this partnership, scholarship opportunities are regularly awarded to talented young athletes, helping them develop both on and off the court.
The partnership reflects our shared belief that success in international sport requires more than talent alone. It requires communication, confidence and the ability to connect with people from different cultures and backgrounds.
Young Athlete Scholarships
Young Athlete Scholarships support ambitious young people balancing education with training, travel and competition.
Many of these opportunities are offered through our partnerships with sporting organisations and tournament providers.
